March Book Madness

Here at Park we are getting geared up for March Book Madness!  Books were selected from a list of top reads on our campus and new releases.  Students & staff may scan our QR code sheet or go to the KPHS Library website to vote!  The ELITE 8 will be announced on March 3rd!  Let the reading and voting begin!

Reading Right Now

So my TBR list grows each day with all the new Young Adult books out right now!  One book at a time, right?  Currently, I am reading Salt to the Sea by Ruta Sepetys a historical fiction author. It is a page turner!

All American Boys

All American Boys by Jason Reynolds and Brendan Kiely  (F REY Young Adult)
Sixteen year old Rashad is accused of stealing a bag of potato chips, which leads to his brutal arrest.  Quinn witnesses the arrest by the police officer who is the brother of his best friend.  Quinn is torn about whether to share what he saw as tensions arise between friends and family.  
I like that this book is written by two authors and the chapters alternate between characters.  The subject matter is relevant to current issues and places readers in a "what would you do scenario."  All American Boys will definitely spark student discussion.
