Sydney Reilly is concerned about visiting her mother in San Francisco for the summer. Her mother, Lila Shore, is a famous actress who has not been involved in Sydney's life. Entrenched in narcissism, Lila is dating, Jake, who has a mysterious career in art. Lila and Jake are not the ideal couple and tensions between the two cause Sydney to escape to the beach each day. Sydney longs to have the "perfect" summer since she is turning 16! She spends her time scouting out nearby beaches with her new best friend, Max, a German Shepard. Along the way she meets Nicco, the interesting boy on the beach. Could this be the summer she was dreaming of or does the sourness at home change all her plans?
