Fire Keeper's Daughter

Daunis Fontaine is part of the Ojibwe reservation of the Upper Peninsula, Michigan.  She is 18, starting out fresh in college, but tragedy seems to follow her and those in her town.  In a place where hockey is "king" and a new shining starter, Jamie, is winning Daunis over.  Little does Daunis know that the FBI is investigating people in her town to expose a long time crime ring.  Forced to do what is right, protect those she loves, and overcome the obstacles to reveal the truth; Daunis learns what truly means to be a strong Ojibwe woman.

Narrated in first person point of view, the content of the novel is perfect for addition for Native American related themes.  Language is clean; however, content also includes drug use and sexual assault.

Perfect Young Adult crossover read!
